Practice of the Year
Ashworth Vets have an amazing team of Vets, nurses and supportive staff, like so many others have worked tirelessly through this pandemic. What makes them stand out above the others is how much they have still managed to achieve whilst dealing with everything. They managed to keep all their 3 branches open and ensured that they even saw other practice patients if needed. Staff have worked in teams, been furloughed and still managed to all keep in touch. They had regular team catch ups every Sunday and all got together 'virtually' to create a word message from staff and pets during the early stages of the pandemic. The team have coped with staff shortages, positive cases, full PPE, extra workload, booster catch ups and still managed to participate in charity events last year which saw them raise nearly £2000 for Pets as Therapy.
They have held a virtual pet show, their own Wag & Walk event getting staff and pets moving and involving their clients too. This year they have rewarded staff with a little paid time off for hard work, got them to set their owner personal challenges to help get through January and have now launched Zoom Puppy classes so that they can support new puppy owners with 'pandemic puppy' problems as they get older. The whole team create this amazing atmosphere at Ashworth's which is why it would be impossible to nominate just one person. We are now currently involved in a virtual 'Race to Norway' to get one of vets home. This is providing staff with reasons to exercise and a little healthy branch competition but more importantly they are all talking and engaging with each other as we reach distance targets. I am very proud to be a part of this team and feel so well supported through such challenging times.
