Jacques grew up and trained to become a vet in South Africa and graduated from the University of Pretoria in 2011. After a short stint in general practice, he returned to University to complete his specialist training in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia, during this period he obtained his MSc in veterinary anaesthesia as well. In 2015, Jacques obtained South African specialist status. In 2016, Jacques and his wife moved to the UK and spent 2.5 years lecturing Veterinary Anaesthesia at the University of Liverpool. During this time, Jacques obtained European specialist status in Veterinary Anaesthesia Analgesia. In 2018, Jacques moved to Willows Veterinary Centre in the West Midlands, where he currently works as a full time anaesthetist. In 2019, Jacques started the pain clinic at Willows, where he manages challenging and refractory chronic pain cases. In his spare time, he enjoys being outdoors, regularly partaking in triathlons and endurance events.
